Loctite 2047: The Most Effective Weapon in Your Mining Maintenance Arsenal

Two Solutions, One Product
Loctite 2047 is a dual-function, high lubricity, high-strength threadlocker for large fasteners (grade eight and above) such as nuts, bolts and studs. It combines the attributes of a lubricant, which reduces thread friction and helps achieve optimal clamp load on large fasteners, with those of a threadlocker, which seals to eliminate loosening from vibration, as well as preventing corrosion to ensure a maintainable assembly. These benefits are critical in a number of mining applications such as crushers, conveyors, rod mills, hoppers and chutes. 

In this harsh and hazardous and cost-conscious industry, it’s vital to keep critical components functioning and focus on service, repair and maintenance rather than expensive replacement. Often the smallest components – nuts and bolts – can pose the greatest threats. Loctite 2047 and other threadlockers prevent fastener failure, cut costs and make regular maintenance work easier. 

How it Works
Loctite 2047 is a medium-viscosity product that cures when confined in the absence of air between close fitting metal surfaces. It’s designed for applications that require both high strength and high lubricity.

When applied, Loctite 2047 has a slow cure profile to allow torqueing of multiple bolts in a single assembly prior to curing. On large, highly-torqued bolts where considerable heat is generated during assembly, the slow cure profile is a benefit in preventing premature cure.

Loctite 2047 lubricates during the torque process when used with pneumatic impact tools. This lubricity is designed to match what is normally achieved with metal free anti-seize lubricants.

Loctite 2047 has a maximum temperature resistance of up to 300F (150C), a fixture time of 90 minutes and is fully cured in 24 hours. 

Need to remove Loctite 2047? You can heat the assembly to above 300F (149C) for five minutes and then remove it with a hand tool.
